Take Care:

Much of the artwork in this apartment is of deep personal significance and is irreplaceable. Please take care of it.

How to take care of:

Colleen Brown's Keychain & Mat / Kitchen / Take this keychain with you to lock the door when you go out. Hold it in your hand. It is made to be fiddled with.

Natalie Riha's Dishware / Kitchen / Use it as you would dishware in your daily life. Don't be worried if it stains. It is meant to stain with each use as an index of this experience.

Sam Wildman's Books / Living Room / The selection of books on the two-bucket-table are meant to be read in conversation with the introductions provided in the envelope addressed: "Airbnb Guest." Feel free to take them off the table and read them anywhere during your stay.

JJ Peet's Brick, Fob, Proxy Cup, & Book Reports / Living Room / These objects are made of stoneware and are meant to be held with deep focus. For necessary instructions please refer to the Book Reports on the same shelf. Please use the white gloves provided when browsing the Book Reports.

Tivon Rice's Live Video Feed / Living Room / The television has been turned on for you. It shows a live feed. If you require, you may turn it off. Please do not adjust it otherwise.

Rob Rhee's Dream Plunger, Gourd Bucket, & Amphibian Table / Living Room / The dream plunger is holstered in the one-bucket-table. In the corner next to it are drawings related to its use. You can hold the handle in your palms and that should be enough for now. The gourd bucket leaks but has other uses.

Feel free to use the one-bucket-table or the two-bucket-table to sit in front of and work.

Jamie Hilder's Headphones / Bedroom / These headphones are meant to be worn. Please enjoy them.

The raised area in the living room is a nice place to sit. Feel free to move the blue stools. Feel free to use the Amphibian Table as you would a good piece of furniture. Feel free to use the one-bucket-table or the two-bucket-table to sit in front of and work.

For lounging there are cushions in a stack in the hallway. They have velcro spots that can be lined up to make any shape to lounge on that you can think of. Please enjoy them.

Everything else hung on the walls was made to be looked at while remaining untouched. For these pieces touching was never intended to add to your experience and has the potential to prevent or ruin the experiences of others. This goes for:

Ted Mineo's Painting / Living Room / This painting, C. Matter (Studio In A Different Light), is made of ink and acrylic paint on paper on tilted wood. You will recognize it by the treadmill in the picture or the availability of cushions in blue and orange or the book with visible keys in the bottom right corner.

Dawn Cerny's Sculpture / Living Room / This sculpture is a mantel piece. You will recognize it by the paper vases and the compositions they form in the connections between surfaces.

Rob Rhee's Sculptures / Living Room / These small sculptures on the sill between the kitchen and the living room, N.E.I.S., were once made daily in a room somewhat bigger than the kitchen.

The patterns for this series all derive from individual sweater patterns encountered by the artist in his daily life.

Tia Kramer's Sculptures / Living Room & Bedroom / This series, A Study of Interiors, consists of found tools and handmade paper. You can see one of them on the short wall between the living room and the hallway and the other three on a shelf in the bedroom. To quote Lao Tzu, "Benefit comes from what is there; Usefulness from what is not there."

Jesse Weiss's Painting / Hallway / This painting, S.I.W.W. Green/white/yellow, is part of a series of patterned paintings on panels. The patterns for this series all derive from individual sweater patterns encountered by the artist in his daily life.

Mamiko Otsubo's Painting / Hallway / This painting, p. 213 (Chesnut), was made five years ago with acrylic on cut book pages mounted on a linen book cover. Materials for this series can be found in copies of Gyorgy Kepes' 1966 book The Man-Made Object.

Megha Mattoo's Portrait / Hallway / This portrait was made in New York with India ink on paper and was given to the sitter as a gift.

Sophia Frydman's Drawing / Hallway / This drawing, Toni watching t.v., is a mix of ink and watercolor on paper. It was made nine years ago and is of the artist's sister. This work was given as a trade for the building of a wall and a loft bed.

Shaw Osha's Drawing / Bedroom / This drawing, A Portrait of Your Ear, is made with oil paint on paper. To quote the artist, "Ears are unnoticed, unsung, and a modest part of us. Like in analysis, you look into the distance and I look at your ear." If you would like a portrait of your ear this can be arranged. Please inquire with the host to be put in contact with Shaw.
