You will always be a student, never a master…
As the “Independent Study” chapter of my book has ended, a new one has come to life, the “Mentorship”. Having the honor of being mentored by Mr. Joshua Meek, an accomplished entrepreneur and Mr. Phil Dillard, a high-preforming business consultant and startup guru, I have begun the official process to verify my mentors and begin consulting and learning from them to broaden my knowledge on my chosen topic.
With an added professional responsibility of having selected two mentors, I strongly believe that effective time management and communication will be of great importance as I have already experienced the time-consuming yet necessary process of multiple emails and requests for meetings, documentations, and formalities associated with the Independent Study & Mentorship process. Although these concepts may be frustrating at times, I have experienced and will continue to learn and appreciate the vitality of these concepts as they not only imitate and prepare me for the workforce however will aid me in developing skills such as effective communication and proactive planning.
For this upcoming week, I plan on finalizing my business plan as the deadline for my Original Work approaches and plan on sending it to Mr. Dillard and Mr. Meek for review. Once past that phase, I will incorporate any provided feedback in order to submit the proposal on time. In addition to the submission of my original work, however, I look forward to the opportunity of “marketing” the research showcase to my family and friends to guarantee maximum turnout at the event form my side. This will allow me to ultimately market my personal brand while showcasing my efforts in the first semester of the Independent Study & Mentorship program.
