Run a Marathon, not a Sprint
I have begun to believe in the saying that you eventually become the people you spend time and interact with. Through the Independent Study & Mentorship Program, I have been able to surround myself not only with a group of high-achieving and passionate students but also with a set of knowledgeable professionals who share expertise in my interested field of study. With these interactions, primarily with Mr. Meek, I have come to resemble some of his positive characteristics and have also begun to incorporate them into my personality.
This week, I came to realize the true value of Mr. Meek's support. His proactive and professional attitude towards our mentor-student relationship has allowed me to innovate and develop ideas that I never thought I would be able to do otherwise. From our effective timeline to our routine progress reports reemphasized weekly, these tasks have allowed me to develop a punctual personality wherein I prioritize efficient communication techniques and the high-quality delivery of results. I look to not only grow on these values but capitalize on numerous other qualities I look to employ.
Planning, I will be putting a slight pause on my ISM journey as I am to go to San Antonio and perform as part of the TMEA 5A All-State Band. Despite this, I still look to conduct a mentor meeting with Mr. Meek to meet once before this extended break. In addition, I look to keep on persisting and pushing through to eventually accomplish my goals.
