At the Edge of a Revolution

November 2nd, 2020

This week was largely spent on reflection and contemplation, as I strove to truly identify what my quote for this year meant to me. Reminded of the saying “An individual is only worth what he gives away,” I deduced that the quote that I have chosen, “I am the greatest…” truly means that one only becomes the greatest upon positively impacting and influencing individuals. Therefore, I decided to shift from simply conducting research about impact investing and creating a portfolio to discovering methods I can utilize impact investing to further elevate the impact I will be making.

Due to this realization, I focused my research on the pain points existent within the field of impact investing and innovate within those fields. The primary pain point I discovered was a lack of impact investing within developing economies, which could potentially alter their course within the demographic model and accelerate sustainable growth with an influx of economic and social prosperity due to impact investing efforts. Therefore, I have begun to consider changes to the path of my Original Work and could potentially alter it to conduct research on steps I can take to promote impact investing within frontier economies despite the volatility associated with those markets as this deters demand.

In the future, I look forward to talking about this topic with the more professionals I meet and potentially my mentor to see how I can alter my project’s pathway and execute my vision.
